Nothing says warm and hearty breakfast like some good ol’ biscuits and gravy. Now I could get fancy and make my own biscuits which I have in the past. Don’t get me wrong if you have the time then thats awesome, however I’m one that uses the good ol’ canned biscuits.
1 lb medium sausage (you can use mild or hot)
4 Cups Vitamin D milk
6 Tablespoons Flour
6 Tablespoons Butter
Salt/Pepper
Preheat oven to 350 degrees or 375 depending on the biscuit instructions
While oven is preheating, brown the sausage
Once oven is preheated, place biscuits in and cook til golden brown
When sausage is all cooked–I do tend to get a few crispy pieces in there, remove and place in a bowl. Add in butter and once melted add in flour. You will wants to mix together to get a nice paste consistency, once all mixed pour in milk. Stir to encorporate everything. I will add salt( I personally do very little like less than a teaspoon) and pepper ( i do go heavy on pepper, personally propably look to do 2 tablespoons or a touch more)
We do like our gravy with lots of pepper and feel it gives it great flavor.
Once the salt/pepper is added you will want to stir and keep stirring while bringing to a boil, once boiling reduce heat to medium low and simmer til you get the thickness/consistently you like for gravy.
